Keeping your oral health high – Holistic Dentistry

We all know that we need to brush our teeth twice a day to keep our teeth and gums healthy, but what many people do not realize is that there are many other things that you can do to ensure that your oral health remains high. You do not have to leave the care of your teeth solely to your dentist, as there are simple changes that you can make to your life that will even prevent the need for you to go and see your dentist regularly! Holistic dentists will always recommend these ideas to their patients as a matter of course, but for those people that do not have the benefit of being cared for by a holistic dentist, we have put together a short list of things that can dramatically improve the healthiness of your teeth:

  • Be careful of what you eat.

Just as your diet will affect your overall health, so will your diet affect your oral health. Consuming huge amounts of coffee, red wine, and fruit juices in a day can totally transform the enamel on your teeth from healthy to downright gone. By removing these from your daily routine, you could prevent your enamel from being destroyed.

  • Brush right, and brush often.

This may seem obvious, but many people do not seem to realize the value of brushing their teeth for three to four minutes. This will ensure that every single tooth is brushed properly – as holistic dentists are seeing more and more people come to them who are not brushing correctly.

  • Use natural products.

Introducing toxins into your body at home would seem stupid, but we often do it accidentally. Homemade toothpaste is the only toothpaste that you can trust the ingredients will all be good for you, and holistic dentists recommend homemade toothpaste to all of their patients.
